As part of early development automotive engineers perform a series of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) evaluations to appraise safety considerations. The computer simulations provide relevant data to predict the vehicle’s capability of absorbing an impact and protecting the occupants. Other information derived from the simulations predict the life of the vehicle's structure in long-term mileage accumulation and structural performance for handling, noise, vibration and similar considerations.
